Between your professional carpet cleanings, you may find that you’re in need of some minor stain removal and/or other carpet cleaning. There are ways you can go about doing this on your own, and many of these methods are natural and non-toxic to your family, just like the green cleaning we do here at Valley Cleanpro. Today, we would like to share some ingredients and methods for naturally cleaning your carpet at home.

Essential Ingredients

Baking soda is a natural deodorizer and stain remover, removing salt solutions wellWhite Vinegar removes both mildew and grease Cornstarch also helps to remove grease and salty stainsWhile essential oils do not have stain removal characteristics, adding oils to your cleaning solutions will make them smell good and give your home an even cleaner feel

In-Home Natural Carpet Cleaner

It is rather simple to make an in-home, natural cleaner with the items listed above. For set in stains, you may want to consider adding borax, in small amounts, to the solution. Remember that borax can be harmful if ingested or used in large amounts, but small amounts can be effective in stain removal.
  • Using a spray bottle, combine white vinegar and water-in equal measurements
  • Use the bottle to spray the stain and allow the mixture to rest in the carpet, to set in
  • Use a sponge to blot the area
  • If needed, use soapy, lukewarm water, to even further wash out the stain
  • Remember not to scrub, as you do not want to damage the carpet fibers, instead blot and lightly rub in a circular motion
